The Bowling Green Arts Commission is seeking artists to sell their work at The Sidney E. King Arts Center.

The Bowling Green Arts CommissionBowling Green Arts Commission  (BGAC) has committed to take on the responsibilities of maintain the daily operation of an arts center to promote the arts in honor of Sidney E. King. This arts center will display Sidney E. King’s art work, display and sell local artist works, promote the arts in local schools and provide art classes.

It is the goal of the Sidney E. King Art Center to sell quality art in a variety of mediums. To that goal members of the Bowling Green Arts Commission (BGAC) will jury in all art to be sold at the Art Center and reserves the right to accept and reject any piece of art work. The BGAC will consider any art that can be displayed in a tasteful manner. Examples would be jewelry, framed paintings, and pottery.

Artists wishing to sell their work at the Arts Center must be juried onto the list of qualified artists by the BGAC. Approved artists will be allowed to display up to three pieces of art work (depending upon the space available for the number of juried artists interested in displaying each month) for a period of 120 days. A 20% commission will be paid to the Art Center for each piece sold as a result of its display at the Art Center. Artist will be paid their 80% once the payment clears the Town Treasures office and within 10 days of the following month.  Each artist must complete and inventory sheet and IRS Form W-9. Each piece of framed art work cannot exceed 40” X 50” and must have wire hardware for hanging. Written authorization is required from the artist if someone other than the artist is picking up their work.

All artists must be age 18 or older OR have written permission to participate from their parents or legal guardian.

The Sidney E. King Arts Center will opens in late September. The Arts Center is located in the Annex to the Caroline County Courthouse on Main Street in Bowling Green.  This Annex is adjacent to the historic Old Jail, and also houses the Caroline Historical Society.
